Ohio OL pleased with play

Mentor (Ohio) Lake Catholic three-star offensive tackle Chad Hounshell is one of a small handful of top prospects still on the board in the state of Ohio. The 6-foot-5, 302-pounder has plenty of schools chasing after him with scholarship offers from all over the country, but he's still knee deep in the Ohio state playoffs.
"I think about recruiting but about as little as I have to," Hounshell said. "I focus on recruiting about as much as I have to, because I'm still so focused on the playoffs. We've got Courtland Lakeview this week and we know it's going to be a great game.

"We're going to have to keep doing what we've been doing. We're going to pound the ball. The running game has really been carrying us. I think I've been playing excellent. I think I've stepped it up and made my senior reason even better than my junior season. I'm happy with how I've played."
He's also happy with the schools chasing after him.
Hounshell has offers from Air Force, Cincinnati, Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Akron, Kent, Western Michigan, UCF and others. He said at this point only Colorado and Indiana are schools that for sure will get visits.
"I'd say those two are probably the for sure visits," he said. "And then it all depends on the other schools and what new schools might offer. I'm thinking of places like UCF and Kansas, but it's all a big jumble."
Hounshell said two coaches have stood out to him so far in the recruiting process.
"I like Indiana's offensive line coach, Bobby Johnson," Hounshell said. "I also like the new O-line coach at UCF. They've both been in constant contact with me, and I really enjoy my talks with them."
