Ohio lineman favors Bucks, Huskers

Charlie Wanyek is one of Ohio's top linemen and he's got his sights set high, placing two of the nation's best programs at the top of his list.
"My two favorites are Ohio State and Nebraska," said Wanyek. "The rest of my top five is Maryland, Pittsburgh and Boston College, in that order."

Wanyek is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end/tackle who can also play along the offensive line. He hails from from Ravenna, Ohio.
Wanyek has hit the weight room very hard this summer and has shown good improvements in his strength. But perhaps his biggest area of improvement has been his speed. Wanyek now runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 to 4.8 seconds.
What is it about his leaders that have set them apart?
"Obviously Ohio State's location is a big factor for me," he said. "They have a great coaching staff and I've talked to them numerous times. They're really up front and I fit their style, since I consider myself a throwback player. They want me to play defense and have told me they're after defensive linemen.
"Nebraska is such a prestigious program. It would be an honor to be an offensive lineman for them. They've told me I'm one of their top offensive line targets for this year. They run the ball like 85-percent of the time and I love their option. They had a rough year last year but you know they're going to bounce back."
Wanyek plans on camping at Ohio State on June 26 and Toledo, Kent State and Pitt in July. He is also planning on camping or visiting Cincinnati and Kentucky.
"I've already been to Ohio State, Pitt and Toledo," he said. "I'm trying to get out to Penn State in a couple of weeks. I guess it's expected that I haven't been to Nebraska yet, but I would like to. I've been to Michigan and Indiana as well.
"The Ohio State trip was unbelievable. The most surprising trip was probably Toledo. They have really good facilities and a very good program."
