Ohio LB helping team to high ranking

Mentor, Ohio, is ranked third in the state of Ohio and a big reason why is the play of 6-foot-3, 215-pound inside linebacker Chad Mayse.
Mayse, ranked as the No. 41 player in the state of Ohio, isn’t sure of how many tackles he’s had this season, but the team’s defense is only allowing seven points a game and is off to a perfect 4-0 record.

“It’s going great,” he said. “The AP poll will never give us No. 1 or No. 2 in the state because we’re under two teams that are powerhouses every year. I feel we belong up there, but I guess we’ll just have to show it on the field.
“I’ve been playing great. I’m getting to the ball quite a bit, but I’m also a picky guy. I always think there is room for improvement.”
Mayse has also been working on improving his offer list. He has offers from Kent State, Miami of Ohio, Ohio, Bowling Green and Buffalo. He’s received calls this month from Bowling Green, Ohio, Miami of Ohio, Louisville, Indiana, Toledo and Pittsburgh.
“I’m just trying to catch a game a week in person,” he said.
“I want to see the teams that I’m interested in every week in action. I was at the Bowling Green game last week. That was really neat. I’ll be at the Toldeo-Pittsburgh game on Saturday.”
