Ohio LB has one offer on table

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy not only has one athlete with a scholarship offer, the program has two talented players that are generating Division I interest.
Most people already are well aware of tight end/defensive end Kenny Anunike, but outside linebacker/running back Drew Stevens is also attracting a lot of attention, and you can expect even more after a strong showing at the NIKE Camp this past Saturday.

"I held my own against all this high level of competition," Stevens, who is 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, said. "I think that's the whole point of these NIKE Camps. I think I held my own out here. There was a lot of contact. The linebacker group was definitely the hardest workers the whole day. There was a lot of bumping and grinding out there."
Stevens said he learned a lot and that's going to help him become an even better player.
"It was more about learning how to be more fluid and things like that," he said. "I learned about getting my hips around and keeping my feet chopping. But the other main thing is just pay attention. Paying attention will help you just know what needs to be done at the position."
Stevens had a very solid junior season. He earned team most valuable player honors on offense as a junior after leaning his team in rushing yards, rushing average and was the school's second leading receiving. Plus, he was all-state special mention, all-conference, all-district and all-county also in 2006.
While did do plenty of damage on offense, he projects at linebacker on the next level.
At the NIKE Combine held at Capital University, he recorded a 4.53-second electronic 40-yard dash, plus he had a 32.4-inch vertical leap and had 19 reps in the bench press. It's that athletic ability that caused Kent to put an early offer on the table for him.
"I got an offer from Kent after the season last year," he said. "That was pretty exciting. I've got a whole lot of people coming through and showing interest. A lot of people are saying 'come to camp and we'll see how you perform, and then maybe we'll call on the way home' type of deal.
"After the camp on Saturday, I went to Kent to walk around the campus and get the offer in writing. Coach Matt Edwards is recruiting me. I was going right through so it was a good thing to do on the way home."
Other schools showing him interest include Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Toledo.
