Ohio junior at eight total offers

One of the hottest junior prospects in the state of Ohio is Pickerington North defensive end/tight end Jake Butt. Three new offers last week brings the promising junior to a total of eight for the process.
"Last week was real crazy and it was a good week, other than we lost to Gahanna," Butt said. "I had been expecting Northwestern for awhile, but Syracuse and Duke just came out of the blue. I also got on the phone with a coach from Maryland and I expect them to offer pretty soon. That would be really good to pick that one up. They showed a lot of interest in me as a defensive end."

The 6-6, 220-pound Butt plays both tight end and defensive end for Pickerington North, and could project at either position in college.
"Northwestern, I know they want me as a super back, which is like a tight end/fullback type position," Butt said. "I think Syracuse wants me on defense. Duke and all my other offers said they don't care. They will have me as an athlete right now.
"It really doesn't matter to me. I just want to get on the field and play. I can't imagine what it would be like playing college football, and I don't want to take away any options."
Duke was the last of the three offers to come through last week, and the show of interest from the Blue Devils both surprised and excited Butt.
"When I got on the phone with their coach, they said they really liked me on film and it was a no-brainer to offer me," Butt said. "Academics are a huge part of my decision, and it doesn't get much better than Duke. That's definitely a standout factor for them."
Butt has already attended games at Michigan and Ohio State this fall. He plans to check out additional college games as the season progresses.
"I was supposed to be going to Michigan State-Michigan this weekend, but I have a wedding," Butt said. "I will be going to Northwestern for their Penn State game."
Butt now has double-digit sack totals on the season through seven games. He also has caught several touchdown passes from the tight end position.
