Ogbonnaya takes in first camp

Houston (Texas) Strake Jesuit wide receiver Chris Ogbonnaya is happy with the progress made during the month of May on the recruiting trail. Now, he’s ready to get the summer camp swing in full mode.

“I was at the Texas one-day camp,” the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Ogbonnaya said. “I got to meet a lot of the guys that are already committed to Texas. They were working on me to go ahead and commit with them.”
Ogbonnaya saw his list of scholarship offers grow during May from five to about 20.
“Colorado, Syracuse, UCLA, Arkansas, Penn State, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Kansas and Nebraska all offered me. There are more, but those are the ones I can remember without looking at the list at home.”
Despite the increased list of schools with offers, Ogbonnaya hasn’t narrowed his list down yet.
“That is my next step,” he said. “I will begin to look at the ones that have offered and try and learn some more about them. Hopefully by the end of next week, I can begin to cut it down some.”
After the time spent today in Austin, the rest of the summer will include a few other camps. The question is, which ones.
“I don’t know what other camps I’ll go to for sure. I will try and get a few others in. I also hope to make it on a few trips to see some schools on my own.”
Some of the schools Ogbonnaya will try and get to are Penn State, Miami and Notre Dame.
“Penn State has been in touch with my coach quite a bit. Miami called for film on me the other day and Notre Dame left a message with my coach that they would be in touch with him soon about me. We’ll see what comes of those.”
