OG Johnson talks Iowa camp

Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park junior offensive line prospect Ramone Johnson (6-foot-5, 307 pounds) was one of several Chicagoland prospects who camped last Saturday at the University of Iowa. Johnson spent the day on Saturday getting to know the Hawkeyes better. Did Johnson like what he saw from his visit to Iowa City?
"It was all good at Iowa on Saturday," Johnson said. "It felt great to be able to get the pads back on and to be able to hit someone. It almost felt too good because now I want to go out and work with pads on every day now after the Iowa camp."

Johnson came away very impressed with the Hawkeyes on Saturday and talks about his impressions.
"I learned that Iowa is a lot closer to home than I thought it was, that's for sure. I was told that Iowa City was about 5 hours away from home, so we left around 2:30AM on Saturday. We got to Iowa City around 5AM, so we had plenty of time to eat and sleep in the car. We had a chance to get a tour of the campus and the facilities before the camp started at Iowa. I really liked the campus and the facilities, the campus is huge but I didn't feel like it was too big. The facilities are great and everything seems really close together which I liked. The people at Iowa were also really nice, they really made you feel welcomed."
So how did Johnson fare at his first summer camp?
"I thought that for the first camp I did pretty good. I gave up like 2 sacks in the pass protection drills all day and I also was able to handle the defensive linemen in front of me for the whole day. It was just a great feeling to go out and hit again. I really got into my zone after about the first few drills, then that football feeling just all came back to me."
Johnson came away impressed with his day in Iowa City.
"I'm really glad that I got a chance to see Iowa up close and in person this summer. The Iowa coaches want me to call them today (Monday) so I'll see if they are going to offer me or not. I can definitely see myself taking an official visit down the road to Iowa if they are interested in me. It was a really good day at Iowa on Saturday."
So what are Johnson's remaining summer camp plans?
"I'm definitely going to the Illinois camp on June 18th. I also want to head out and see Tennessee later this summer. I've seen Iowa and Illinois in person, but I also really want to see Tennessee this summer. I might camp in mid-July at Tennessee or I might just take an unofficial visit there."
