OG Johnson adds a Big 12 offer

Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park junior offensive line prospect Ramone Johnson (6-foot-5, 307 pounds) has continued to draw recruiting interest and offers from some of the top programs from across the country during the May evaluation period. Johnson landed an offer from the University of Nebraska late last week.
"I received a call last Wednesday from Coach (Kevin) Cosgrove from Nebraska," Johnson said. "We had a really good talk and then he told me that Nebraska was offering me a scholarship."

Johnson talked about his latest offer from the Cornhuskers.
"I know that Nebraska has been having a rough time the last few years, but I also know that Nebraska has a great football tradition. They play in the Big 12 conference which is a great football conference. I've never been to Nebraska but I've heard that they have great facilities and a great fan base. Nebraska also has a great reputation for developing offensive linemen."
Johnson continues to hear rumors and rumblings about him giving a silent verbal commitment.
"A silent verbal commitment? Man, that's crazy, I haven't verballed to anyone at this point, not at all. I have a few schools that I like at this point like Illinois and Tennessee, but I'm still really far away from making any kind of commitment, silent or public. I'm still just enjoying the May period and talking with the coaches. I won't start to get serious about schools until this summer at the earliest."
Johnson is also looking forward to checking out schools in person this summer.
"I'm still going to camp at Iowa on June 4th, but then I'm going to check out as many schools in person as I can this summer. I might camp at a few other schools, or I might just check them out unofficially. It will all depend on my team's summer schedule and how I can fit things in for the summer."
