OG Jessup bears watching

Offensive guard Maurice Jessup is a big lineman prospect out of Philadelphia (Pa.) John Bartram. The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder is getting looks from some smaller Division I schools.

"He is getting mail from the mid major schools like Temple, Cincinnati, Ohio, Akron, Toledo, Marshall and others," John Bartram head coach Damond Warren said. "He has tremendous upside potential as he is just 16-years old and his dad is a lot taller. He definitely has the potential to grow more."

The lineman was named first team all-public offensive line last season.

"He is a hardworking kid that is strong and almost immovable," he said. "Maurice is a tremendous straight ahead blocker, but he still needs to work on his pass blocking more. If he does that, he'll be really dominant. I think he also needs to trim down a little bit. Besides that he is a very good kid with excellent character."
