Three-star offensive guard Devin Flowers out of Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek landed his first scholarship earlier this week. Who pulled the trigger on the 6-foot-4, 281-pounder?
"I got my first offer from Grambling," he said. "It's very big, I was very relieved to get it. I don't know much at all about them, but I have a friend, Anthony Carrothers down there. I was very excited to get the offer."
"I'm going to visit, go down for a game, but I haven't decided what game yet."
Other schools continue to monitor the lineman at this time.
"Right now I'm hearing from Duke, Appalachian State, Old Dominion, East Carolina, USF, UCF and Wake Forest," he said. "Most of them really want me to come up for a game so that they can meet me personally. They also want my senior film. I just got my first three games and I'm about to put it out."
Flowers has plans to visit Duke this weekend for the Alabama game and says other visits are coming, but he's unsure where else he'll go.
In the meantime, the season is off to a fast start for Flowers and Mallard Creek.
"This has definitely been the best I've ever played," he said. "I'm playing both ways and we're blowing teams out.
"I have to say my confidence is really high. I don't want to sound cocky, but I feel when I step on the field I'm the best out there, nobody is better than me."
