Monaca (Pa.) Center Area offensive guard Evan Blankenship holds three scholarship offers from Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Temple. Currently the 6-foot-3, 310-pounder is favoring two of the schools and is hoping to make a decision sometime before the season starts in August.
"Things have been going pretty slow right now as a lot of schools are just contacting my coach and stopping in," he said. "I decided not to go to any combines. I'm pretty happy with the offers I've got and hopefully I can get a couple more this summer.
"I'd say Ohio State and Pittsburgh are probably my favorite schools right now. I've always liked Ohio State and I've even talked to Joe Daniels. He is a great guy that is really easy to talk to and I think at the moment they are showing the most interest. I also like Ohio State's campus and tradition there. There really isn't anything bad to say about them and they have an excellent coaching staff.
"As for Pittsburgh, they are 30 minutes away from home. I like that they are close by and in the city. I'm a real city type of guy and I like the fact you can get everywhere you want. They also have a great new recruiting class that just came in and it seems exciting to join a team on the rise."
Blankenship believes his decision will come down to those two schools.
"I think it's going to be between Pittsburgh and Ohio State," he said. "I'm planning to probably make a decision sometime before my senior year. I want to do that so that I'm guaranteed an offer in case of injury. Then there is no risk."
If any other schools have a shot at Blankenship it looks like it'll be Michigan and Notre Dame.
"I plan to take in camps at Notre Dame on June 3rd and then ones at Ohio State and Michigan."
Last season the Keystone State lineman was named all-conference as a junior.
