The recruiting process is picking up steam for Cypress (Texas) Cypress Woods running back Samuel Stewart.
The 5-8, 183-pound ball of muscle has picked up offers from Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Colorado State, and Wednesday he added an offer from Duke.
In addition to his offers he is receiving interest from the likes of LSU, Texas, Cal, UCLA, Arizona State, and Michigan State, and as the summer months near he hopes to check out several of his options.
"I know I'm going to the Texas camp on June 9," Stewart said. "I went to the LSU spring game two weeks ago. I went to the U of H spring game awhile ago. I'm also going to the LSU camp. I don't know what date that is but it's sometime in June.
"I'm supposed to be going to Mississippi State for their camp. I think I'm going to make a lot of trips. I'm going to make a trip to Boise (State). I'm going to make a trip to Cal. Maybe UCLA when I'm out there. Hopefully Arizona State…Michigan State."
His trips to Houston and LSU left lasting impressions on the standout running back.
"[Houston] actually surprised me," Stewart said. "I wasn't expecting a whole lot because I didn't think U of H was a big school. They had some nice facilities and they had a good coaching staff. I like how the players interact with the coaches over there. Everybody is all hyped up about football."
"[LSU] just wowed me because of their facilities," he said. "They showed us the student athlete tutoring center with all the computer labs and tutoring rooms and just showed us around campus. It's nice. They have it set out and they make sure you pass as well as succeed in football."
Nebraska, Boise State, and Duke have been at practice this week, and Houston, Rice, LSU, and Cal have stepped up their interest.
So does he have any leaders at this point in the process?
"I'm just keeping my options open for the summer," Samuel said. "Whenever summer starts getting here that's when I'm really going to dive in and see who fits me best."
As for a decision, he also has a plan of action.
"I'm hoping to commit by the end of the summer," Samuel said.
