Offers rise for Holmes

Offers are starting to pick up for Spotsylvania (Va.) Chancellor athlete Chris Holmes. Three new offers have come in recently from the ACC and SEC.
"He got South Carolina, Boston College and Clemson offers," Chancellor coach Chris Lam said. "Basically they all have been in the last two weeks I'd say."

Holmes has been thrilled with the news.
"He found out about the Clemson one before I even found out," he said. "He texted me the other night and he was taken back by it. I think it was just by it being Clemson, a powerhouse every year and we really hadn't had a lot of interaction with them. They told us he could possibly get early playing time cause of the senior group there are losing in the secondary."
What about the other two offers?
"Coach Washington came in at the end of last week and Chris liked what he heard of them," he said. "Coach Elliott stopped by for South Carolina and you know he was excited about that one cause it's the SEC.
"But, he's just taking it all in. He's trying to do as much research as he can. I think he's trying to line up a visit in the next couple weeks at the beginning of May, perhaps a West Virginia swing to West Virginia and Marshall."
The only other trip recently for Holmes was to East Carolina.
"He went there last month," he said. "He had a good time down there. He enjoyed the coaches and visiting the school."
In other news, 2014 lineman Steven Moss also added a Clemson offer recently.
Moss recently came off a trip to West Virginia this past weekend.
"He had a good visit to West Virginia. He took in the game and it was his second time there. He said it was cold, but he got to see the facilities and meet the offensive line coach and his recruiter."
Finally, Lam has one more prospect to watch in 5-foot-9, 175-pound tailback Dominic Kaopua.
"He just visited Bryant and they like him a lot," he said. "He's a tough runner and plays the game hard at linebacker and running back. He's a good student too."
