Offers pick up for star FL end Howard

Offers have been flying in for defensive end Jerry Howard out of Orlando (Fla.) Jones over the past month. Since Signing Day approximately a month ago, the 6-foot-4, 237-pounder has received five scholarship offers.
"Jerry has been offered by Florida, North Carolina State, Boston College, Nebraska and Central Florida," said Jones head coach Mike Cullison. "At the moment he doesn't know who he likes and I keep telling him not to be anxious as plenty more schools will come.

"I know Florida State and Notre Dame are showing interest. Plenty more should pick up soon especially since Florida already offered."
What is causing all the interest in Howard?
"He is an impressive looking kid and doesn't look like he would weigh 237-pounds. He looks like he's 180," he said. "He is also a real aggressive and competitive player that strives to be the best and will work his hardest to do that. He gets off the ball really well, tackles everybody in his way and has good speed, instincts and footwork too. Jerry is also a really good kid that is well mannered."
Last season the defensive end prospect registered 116 tackles and 10 sacks as he was named first team all-Orange County.
Howard plans to attend one of the Nike Camps this spring as well as a Florida summer camp in June.
