Offers grow for 2014 CB Payne

Offers are continuing to rise for 2014 cornerback D'Andre Payne. The Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson prospect picked up five more offers recently.
"Michigan, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Penn State and Maryland came in on Tuesday and offered," he said. "I'm up to 17 offers now.

"We had a workout at my school and a lot of coaches came down here to evaluate players. A bunch of the coaches called on Tuesday night and that's when I got those offers."
Payne was impressed with the scholarships.
"I'm really excited," he said. "It's like when I was a little kid and my brother was at this stage. I couldn't wait till I get there just like him. Here I am with all these offers, it's just a wonderful moment now and keeps getting better and better."
Payne notes that none of the offers stands out over the rest though.
"I haven't really talked to too many of these schools," he said. "I don't really have a good relationship with any of them yet like I really would like to. I'll call and we'll go on from there."
However, Payne plans to start getting to know schools better this summer with visits.
"I'm actually scheduled to go to Oregon on June 8th or 9th," he said. "That'll probably start my visits to schools. I haven't made a schedule, but I plan on going to Ohio State, Maryland, Penn State, all the way out to Colorado and I want to go to Illinois to see what they are about."
