Offers explode for Jersey WR

Offers have blown up for Camden, N.J. wide receiver Tyree Watkins. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder is up to eight offers now and gaining interest from even more colleges.
"I had offers from Syracuse, Rutgers and Connecticut," he said. "I got ones from Stanford, Northwestern, Temple, Villanova and Iowa.

"Pittsburgh hasn't offered, but they told me once they get back to school they'll talk it over. I just heard from Penn State too. They told me I'll probably receive something in the mail after they talk to Coach Paterno."
While he still won't claim true leaders, two schools that came on recently have caught Watkins attention.
"I like the way Iowa and Penn State's program are looking," he said. "Penn State has one of the biggest stadiums in the country. Plus, I know they have good academics. Iowa is a good academic school too. That's a key aspect for me. My mom is talking about that a lot."
Recently Watkins made his way over to Rutgers for the spring game.
"I like everything about Rutgers," he said. "I like the offensive and defensive coordinators. They have good academics particularly in my major, medicine. They are also close to home."
This week the Jersey prospect plans to get even more attention as he will attend the Big-Time Showcase at Rutgers and the Nike Camp at Penn State.
Watkins also mentioned camps this summer. He plans to head to Rutgers and Nebraska.
The Garden State prospect isn't ready to cut his list yet, but did mention that he will start narrowing things down in the not too distant future.
"I plan to have a top five by the end of the summer. Then I'll go on my officials during the year."
