Offers explode for DC lineman

Offensive tackle Peter White out of Washington (D.C.) St. John's College is quickly becoming one of the hottest prospects on the East Coast. The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder has racked up seven offers from some of the top teams in the nation.
"I've got offers from Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Syracuse and Florida," he said. "I like all of those schools the same.

"I'm just looking for academics, a good environment, tradition and an overall good place to be. I want a school that likes me as a person rather than a football player. I also probably want to study secondary education."
Not too long ago White took an unofficial to nearby Maryland.
"I went to Maryland's junior day, that's been the only trip I've been on," he said. "It was real nice. I knew a lot about Maryland already. Nothing stood out different this time around."
Meanwhile, White plans to head to Penn State for the Nike Camp later this spring.
With a number of offers already in hand, is there an early leader for White?
"Not really, I'm a Maryland fan because they are local, but I watch all football it doesn't matter who is on."
The D.C. prospect helped his team to an 8-3 record and the finals last season as a junior.
"We were more run-oriented since we had a new quarterback," he said. "I thought we could have been more dynamic, but the season went well.
"I think I did especially well at run blocking and my pass protection was solid. I think I can improve on my pass blocking more though."
