Offers erupt for Boatman

Recruiting is blowing up for Wheaton (Md.) Good Counsel defensive tackle Corey Boatman. The 6-foot-2, 255-pounder claims five offers including three from the Big East. He also believes more scholarships from the ACC and Big Ten could be coming soon.
"Right now there are offers from Syracuse, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio) and Delaware," he said. "Buffalo is close to offering as well and from what I understand; Boston College, Maryland, Illinois and Michigan State may be close too. Most of them are waiting to make sure my grades are squared away."

Currently the Scarlet Knights have the early advantage for Boatman.
"I don't really have a top five, but Rutgers is my No. 1 choice," he said. "I like the coaching staff and I went up there for a junior day and met them. Coach Schiano is a great guy with character and he develops a family type of relationship with you."
Meanwhile, the Maryland prospect plans to take quite a few visits this summer.
"I'm going to try to go to pretty much all the schools recruiting me," he said. "I plan to head to a full camp at Florida for I believe five days. I'm also looking at going to Virginia, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio), Rutgers and possibly Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Boston College."
With plenty of offers coming in, is Boatman considering an early decision?
"I want to decide during the season next year," he said. "My plan is to narrow it down this summer to a top five and take my officials. I'll get to a final two and pick from that in the middle of the season.
"I'm going to pick the schools I feel I fit in best at. Of importance is how I interact with the players and get along with them. I want a family environment. I've got to go somewhere I get along with the people I'm working with no matter what the circumstances."
Boatman registered 52 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions as a junior.
