Despite only being a sophomore, Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes 2015 athlete Jaason Lewis is up to four offers. The 6-foot-3, 233-pounder landed his third ACC offer recently.
"He just got an offer from North Carolina," Ocean Lakes head coach Chris Scott said. "I think he's pretty excited about all of his offers. He takes them in stride. He's doing a good job of staying humble even while he's getting notoriety and publicity at a young age. It's all happened so fast and kind of snuck up on him, but he's honored by all of those schools that are interested."
Scott believes Lewis is high on one school, but whether there is a favorite remains to be seen.
"He went to North Carolina for a game and went to Virginia last week for the Maryland game," he said. "He liked both of those, but he likes Virginia Tech, especially the fact that they are competing, if not winning the ACC in track. He's a track guy and his brother went to Miami as a hurdler. He's particularly good at the 100 and 4x1. He's always been high on Tech because of that.
"But, you know he's liked USC just from growing up and watching football. Every trip he goes on, he's like wow this place was nice. I know we're going to take a group of guys up to the Virginia-Virginia Tech game at the end of the year. I'm sure he'll like that like the other visits."
On the field, Lewis is continuing to impress.
"He doesn't have the best hands, but he's getting better and he's making big-time plays," he said. "He's just one of those athletes, one of those guys that has size and speed. He's just so special. I don't know if there is a player in this area that has the combination of size and speed that Jaason has, cause he runs a 10.8 or 10.9 as a sophomore."
