Offers continue for RB Alston

Offers are starting to pick up for Hampton (Va.) Phoebus running back Shawne Alston. The 5-foot-11, 220-pounder acquired his first offer back in April and now is up to three scholarships.
"I held an offer from Penn State and picked up ones from Maryland and East Carolina," he said. "I went to Maryland's spring game and they offered me right after that. Then ECU followed a couple days after that."

Alston discussed his trip to Maryland more.
"Maryland is good, they have the No. 1 program for criminal justice in the naion and that's what I really want to major in," he said. "I got to go to their spring game as well.
"They ran the ball a lot and have a big weight room. I talked to the running back coach and Coach Bratten. He just told me I have to look at what is best for me."
Alston mentioned East Carolina briefly more as well.
"I talked to the coaches from there and they say I have a good chance to come in and play when I get there. That's good to know."
With spring visits behind him, Alston is making plans for this summer.
"I'm probably going to go up to Penn State, Maryland, East Carolina and Ohio State," he said. "Ohio State has been showing a lot of interest and said they'll get back to me about offering in the next couple weeks. I plan to make it up there."
Do any schools lead at this time?
"I like Penn State because it's Penn State, Maryland's facilities are very nice, West Virginia is up there since the fans are crazy and love that school. I really look forward to going to Ohio State too."
