Offers continue to roll in for Indian Head (Md.) Lackey junior cornerback Darrell Givens. The 6-foot-1, 178-pounder added an offer not too long ago from one of the top teams in the Big East. He now holds over a half dozen scholarships.
"I know I have offers from Ohio State, Boston College, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Akron," he said. "I picked up Rutgers not too long ago.
"I want on a visit there for the West Virginia game during the season and then they came back with a scholarship. I liked the campus and stadium a lot there. The atmosphere and players were really cool too."
One other school has also caught Givens attention recently.
"Another school sticking out is Oregon," he said. "I'm hearing a lot from them and I think they want to offer. Once we send a highlight tape I should get an official offer from there."
As far as leaders, a few schools standout.
"I'm really cool with recruiters from Ohio State, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Virginia," he said. "I like those because they all have some of my former teammates committed there and I'm close to those players, but I wouldn't say any one school has an advantage over the other."
Givens is hoping two more schools will offer him in the future.
"I'm still waiting on an offer from Miami," he said. "They've been sending a lot of mail lately as has Tennessee. Both of those teams have had a lot of success."
This season Givens posted 67 tackles, three interceptions and five knockdowns for Lackey. He plans to participate in the Army All-American combine next week as well as a Nike Camp in March.
