Richmond (Va.) Varina defensive end Andre Branch has caught the eye of college recruiters. Though he doesn't have any offers yet, the 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is getting interest from some impressive schools.
"He has really come on lately," Varina coach Blanda Wolfe said. "He's a really athletic guy that is 6-foot-5, 235-pounds. He can do a lot of different things. This year he's gotten better and better each week and is more confident.
"He's played different positions for us and gets better once he learns it. He stepped in at tight end for a while when Jamar was out with a high ankle sprain. We didn't lose a beat there. He's also played very well at defensive end and linebacker. On top of that, he also is doing what he has to in the classroom."
So, who has taken an interest in Branch?
"Quite a few teams are making a decision whether to offer him very soon," he said. "Clemson and Florida State are on him really hard right now. I believe he has scheduled an official to Clemson, but I'm not sure on the date.
"I know South Carolina State is interested too and they want him to visit. Virginia Tech has seen tape and coach Cavanaugh is coming up to check out him and Marell. We'll see if they are interested too."
