Offers come for OG Golden

Offers started to roll in for three-star offensive lineman Monte Golden late last week. The Jacksonville (N.C.) Northside prospect pulled two offers, who were they from?
"Last Wednesday I got the first one from UT-Martin and then on Friday I got an offer from Memphis," he said. "I'm excited. It's definitely a huge weight off my shoulders. My work ethic is not going to decrease cause I got my offers, but now I know I got somewhere to go when I do graduate.

"Me being a late bloomer, I just turned 17 in September. I've matured and I think everyone realizes that and hopefully more offers come."
The 6-foot-2, 287-pounder discussed both schools a bit more.
"I know Memphis is in a nice area. I have watched them play a couple games and I'll learn more when I take my official visits," he said. "I do have a good connection with both coaching staffs."
At this time, Golden is eyeing a December 3rd official to Memphis.
Meanwhile, other schools are taking an interest too.
"LSU is showing a lot of interest, they want me as a center," he said. "All the locals, East Carolina, NC State, North Carolina and Georgia Tech are also in touch."
Does Golden like anybody?
"It's fairly tough to say," he said. "I don't want to weed out any one team at this second. I am very excited about my first two offers."
Golden has helped Northside to a 5-3 record this year.
"The season is going well," he said. "This my first year ever playing center and I think I'm going to get invited to the Shrine Bowl to play it. I'm also playing nose guard and have recorded about nine or ten tackles for loss and seven sacks.
"I'm getting interest to play both ways in college. I can say I like defensive tackle more, but I like offensive center too."
