Recruiting has heated up for one of the top defensive end in North Carolina. Jacksonville (N.C.) Northside defensive end Donte Moss has racked up a handful of offers already according to his coach. Does he have any favorites?
"It's fair to say recruiting has picked up for Donte," Northside head coach Bob Eason said. "Alabama has said they are going to offer. He has already been offered by Clemson, NC State, North Carolina and East Carolina. Those are the ones that have gone through me.
"I've talked to Donte about the offers. We haven't talked about favorites, but instead making sure he keeps his grades up and he's making a list of colleges. He's starting to learn to like a lot of different places. I'm the kind of guy that wants him to stick with his commitment when he does it, so he's going to hold off as for awhile."
Eason went on to discuss Moss's ability on the field.
"He's a game changer, a heck of a player," he said. "He's a big kid with lots of speed that controls the corner. Teams run away from him. He's the kind of guy we flip around and he makes a big difference. He's just a talent. He's got a nose for the ball and is a smart player.
"He's got to continue to work out in the weight room and work hard in practice on his technique."
Although he wasn't certain of all his statistics, Eason confirmed that Moss posted nine deflections along with 15 touchdowns at running back last year.
He finished by talking about his star prospect off the field too.
"Donte is a smart person, a typical high school kid," he said. "He's easy to be around, good nature and always wants to win. He's not the type that takes losing lightly."
Eason believes Moss will do a few local camps including the Shrine Bowl camp this spring.
