Offers begin to heat up for Virginia DB

Offers are starting to come in for Roanoke (Va.) Cave Spring safety Michael Cole. The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder picked up his first BCS scholarship earlier this week and gave the latest on his recruitment.
"I got an offer from Duke on Monday," he said. "Coach Collins visited the school in the morning on Monday and after school I called them. Basically they said that they really liked me and that they'd like to give me an offer. They talked about how they planned on taking four defensive backs and plan on me playing safety. They also said they were really excited about me.

"At night, I called Coach Cutcliffe and he said the same kind of thing. He said they really want me to be a Blue Devil."
So, what does Cole think about the Blue Devils?
"Duke is high on my list I think," he said. "The academics are some of the best in the country, you can't get better than Duke. The football program is going to get better and they are improving with Coach Cutcliffe. I'm excited about Duke and definitely have some interest in them."
The offer actually isn't the first for the Virginia prospect.
"It's extremely exciting and it's always been my dream to play college football," he said. "I did get offers from Ohio and VMI. VMI offered a couple weeks ago and the Coach from Ohio said last week they needed to check their numbers, but they planned to offer too."
Meanwhile, other colleges are interested too.
"Virginia came in earlier this week and they want me to camp," he said. "I already went to spring practice at Tech and I plan to camp there in July. Vanderbilt is showing a lot of interest and I plan to camp there too along with Penn State and Michigan. I think I will go to Duke's camp as well still just so I can see how all the coaches interact."
Before all that, Cole plans to showcase his ability at the Nike Camp at Virginia Tech on May 8th.
Cole sports an impressive 4.0 GPA.
