Offers begin for LB Fenton

Offers are beginning to pile up for Erie (Pa.) McDowell linebacker A.J. Fenton. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder holds two offers and is receiving even more interest from other colleges.
"He got an initial offer a week and a half ago from Syracuse," former McDowell head coach Jon Cacchione said. "They just offered him on his DVD, they didn't even see him in person.

"Then on Sunday Coach Wannstedt at Pittsburgh offered him while at the basketball game. We have also sent out film to between 50 and 75 other schools."
Cacchione discussed what makes Fenton stick out.
"I've coached for 25 years and he's got solid potential," he stated. "He's a good student that'll be an easy qualifier with a great body, 6-foot-2, 215-pounds and no body fat. Athletically he has the chance to be a great defensive player. He's very athletic, very tough and is a bull. He passes the eye test and even looks bigger and thicker than he really is.
"The only catch with him is that has hasn't played defense in two years, he's only an offensive guy. More than likely he's a linebacker in college."
Cacchione and Fenton plan to take unofficials to at least Ohio State and Michigan this spring.
