Offer one comes for LB Thompson

Offer No. 1 has come in for Chesapeake (Va.) Grassfield linebacker Avery Thompson. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder put in an impressive camp performance on Tuesday and walked away from the school with a scholarship.
"I went to Maryland and was determined to do my best, I went hard through all the drills, the one-on-ones and 7-on-7's," he said. "I felt that I did great in everything I did and I was just staying humble, and just did my best."

What happened after camp?
"Well, Coach Brattan said that I should find my mom so we could talk to Coach Edsall," he stated. "Then Coach Edsal said that he really likes what he has seen on film and that the camp just confirmed it, then he aid that they would like to extend an offer."
Thompson was thrilled.
"I was grateful and just happy that I finally got my first offer."
Thompson discussed the Terps more.
"I definitely think that Maryland is a great school and a great contender in the ACC," he said. "They are looking to do better than they had last year.
"Maryland has a great program with great coaches who are all helping the players improve not only on the field, but also academically."
The linebacker confirmed plans to take a return trip to College Park this fall.
"I do plan to go back once school starts."
Camps aren't over for Thompson as he's planning a couple more trips.
"I am planning on going to Notre Dame's team camp this weekend and Tennessee in July. As of now I'm not sure what else I'm going to."
