Offer No. 4 comes for Rivals250 DT Williams

Rivals250 defensive tackle Hafis Williams picked up offer number four recently. Who decided to pull the trigger on offering the 6-foot-3, 265-pounder out of Elizabeth, N.J.?
"I had three offers from Maryland, Notre Dame and Rutgers," he said. "Penn State offered me a scholarship on Monday and that's my fourth.

"My coach told me it was coming and he went there, so I have a lot of respect for them and the offer. If I decide to go there it'd be cool following him, but he isn't pushing me at all in that direction. He actually doesn't say much of anything about Penn State, but I like it because it's close to home.
"That's nice for family and friends since they can come and see me play, I think that will be a factor in my decision. My grandmother always would be in the stands for my games and I feed off that energy. If I'm close to home, I'll know she's in the stands and I think I'd possibly perform better."
In the next few weeks, Williams plans to take a couple trips.
"I'm looking at taking a trip out to Penn State and over spring break, going to Notre Dame on the weekend of April 5th," he said. "The main thing I want to see on those visits is more about the football program and academic side. I want to communicate with the coaches and get on the same level with them."
Although Williams claims no leaders, he did grow up a fan of one college in particular.
"Right now everybody to me is the same," he said. "I'm trying to put everybody on an even playing field since the whole process is new to me.
"My favorite team growing up though was Florida State. I admired the Seminoles; I think it was because my mother liked the team too. If they gave me a full scholarship I'd have to look at it, my favorite team wants me."
