Offer No. 2 came in yesterday for Norfolk (Va.) Norfolk Christian School athlete Mario Nixon. Who's the latest team to pull the trigger on the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder?
"NC State offered me yesterday," Nixon said. "I was really excited about that. I like that school.
"I'm going to their spring game this Saturday so it worked out kind of well."
Nixon went on about what intrigues him about the Wolfpack.
"They throw the ball a lot and that's what I'm looking for in a school, one that throws the ball out of the spread," he said. "They also have me listed as a slot receiver while other colleges have me as an athlete. I like my chances there."
Nixon confirmed this Saturday will be his first trip to Raleigh to check out the school.
NC State joins Virginia as the two offers extended to date. However, other schools are interested.
"Oregon just contacted me on Monday, Notre Dame, Maryland, Vanderbilt and Duke are recent schools I've been receiving letters from."
Nixon confirmed he plans to take one other visit later this month, next week.
"On April 23rd I'm going to Virginia Tech's spring game," he said. "They said they want me to come to their one-day camp this summer to evaluate me and offer then."
With quite a bit of interest now, does Nixon like anybody?
"I'm not going to lie, I like Oregon, Notre Dame and Michigan," he said. "I just like the atmosphere, they are all big-time programs. Notre Dame is one of the schools that has their own TV show during the season, they are one of the most televised schools in the country."
