Offer No. 1 is in for Maryland LB

Ijamsville (Md.) Thomas Johnson linebacker Jeremy Grove pulled his first offer recently. Who has offered the 6-foot-1, 231-pounder and who else is on the trail?
"I received my first offer in the mail from East Carolina," he said. "I have a lot of schools really interested in me. We'll see what happens next month in May when they can come into the school."

Grove reflected on the Pirates.
"East Carolina is a great place, especially for me playing linebacker," he stated. "They have a great linebacker coach who played at Notre Dame and was a coach at Miami for eight years. Coach Holtz has brought that program up and they are only going to get better. They are a great school.
"I actually got the offer by going down for a practice. I talked to the coaches and then afterwards they offered me."
East Carolina isn't the only visit the Maryland prospect has been on.
"I went to junior days or practices at Connecticut, Rutgers, Virginia, East Carolina, West Virginia, Duke and Maryland," he said. "I think all the schools have positives and negatives. I'm trying to write those down when I come back to make it easier on my decision."
Grove maintains no leaders at this time though.
"I'm open to any school that is open to me," he said. "The main thing I'm looking for are coaches. Every place has a nice weight room. I'm looking for coaches and players I'll be with the next four years. Of course I'd like them to have my major kinesiology."
Despite suffering a high ankle sprain early in the season, Grove played through the pain and came back in two weeks to play in eight games. He posted 95 tackles, six pass breakups and one fumble recovery while earning all-league, area and Gazette honors.
