Offer concludes big weekend for OL

Ottawa, Kan., offensive tackle Caleb Blakesley was on the road quite a bit this weekend, and some good news came his way while he was traveling.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Blakesley competed in the Kansas Relays on Friday and launched a personal best 60-feet 3.5-inches in the shot put. It also ranked as the state’s best toss this spring.

“Track is going well,” Blakesley said. “I hit 60 this weekend during the shot. It was the first time I had done that. It was a good feeling.”
Blakesley’s weekend was just beginning when he finished the relays on Friday. He headed to Lincoln, Neb. for the Cornhuskers’ spring game on Saturday.
“I went to Nebraska’s spring game yesterday. It was pretty cool. They had a real good crowd and they threw the ball quite a bit. It was a good time. I got to see some of the facilities and meet some people.”
Blakesley followed up the trip to Nebraska with a short drive to Lawrence on Sunday for the Kansas Jayhawks’ spring game.
“Kansas looked real good,” he said. “They are making improvements and getting better. They offered me a scholarship when I was there. Right now Kansas would be at the top because they have offered. I’m not ready to commit, but they’re right up there.”
Blakesley plans to take in the Kansas and Kansas State one-day camps in Kansas City this summer.
“Right now the two one-day camps are all I am planning on. I don’t think I will take any other unofficial visits this spring. K-State invited me to their spring game, but it is the same day as our prom so I can’t go there.”
