Past Offense-Defense All-America Game participants have included Dez Bryant, Cameron Newton, Stephen Garcia, Rolando McClain and Joe Haden, among many others.
Kenton (Ohio) quarterback Maty Mauk has accepted an invitation to play in the O-D Bowl and is in the race for the U.S. Air Force National Player of the Year Award. Mauk has thrown for 18,613 yards in his career and is on pace for 7,000 total yards and 90 total touchdowns in his senior year alone. He passed his brother, Ben, for the national season passing record. He will play for the Division IV state championship on Saturday.
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith all-purpose back J.C. Coleman has accepted an invitation to play in the O-D Bowl as well and has moved up 129 spots in the Rivals 250.
Ocala (Fla.) Vanguard defensive back P.J. Williams joins them, as he jumped 40 spots to No. 150 in the Rivals250.
Several players whose seasons earned them spots in the list released earlier this week also accepted invitations. Those include Alabama commit athlete Kenyan Drake, LSU commit athlete Lamar Louis, cornerback Marcus Rios, Auburn commit linebacker Cassanova McKinzy.
"Mauk and Coleman put up video game numbers this year and while they don't have NFL-type size they are great players who produce, make plays, and can take over a game," said Offense-Defense director of player personnel Josh Buchanan. "McKinzy, Drake and Rios are players who have been underrated and will prove to be impact players at the next level."
