Thompson received a written scholarship offer earlier this summer from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is being recruited by Wofford assistant Tommy Elrod, a former local prep standout from Winter Park High School in the Orlando area. They called Geno earlier this week but he wasn't able to take their call because he was at work.
Thompson continues to receive lots of letters from UCF, Army, Navy, and Princeton. Also a couple new schools are showing interest.
"Louisville is starting to show a lot of interest and N.C. State is starting too also," Thompson said.
West Orange's kickoff classic against South Lake High School was cut short last week because of severe weather. Thompson and his team are getting ready for Orlando-University this week in the first game of the regular season.
"They've got a good fullback but that's about it," Thompson said. "We should be able to beat them pretty good. They lost to Jones 20-2 in the jamboree so we should be able to beat them."
Thompson still says he's pretty wide open when it comes to schools.
"I don't really have any favorites," Thompson said. "I like UCF and I like Wofford but I haven't set any dates for visits or anything like that."
