Oakland Tech duo narrows things

Although he may not make his decision for another month or so, things are beginning to wind down on the recruiting front for Oakland Tech (Calif.) defensive back Virdell Larkins. Two schools have stood our to Larkins for some time now and that remains the case.
Larkins, 5-10, 180 pounds and his Oakland Tech teammates have already secured a berth in the city title game on December 5 despite only playing one playoff game.

"We only had to win one game and now we have a rematch with Oakland (Calif.) Skyline," Larkins said. "We played them in the regular season but the game was called halfway through because of a bunch fights going on in the stands. I'm looking forward to matching up with Kenny O'Neal again. He had some success against last time and has great speed but he doesn't like contact that much. I think if we jam him hard at the line, we can frustrate him and take him out of his game."
Larkins has tripped to Washington State and Oregon and was scheduled to visit UCLA two weeks ago but had it canceled.
"Marshawn (Lynch) and I are still thinking about taking that trip but we may just make our decision," Larkins said. "Cal and Oregon are our two favorites and have been since the beginning of the year. We may not announce our decision until the CaliFlorida Bowl but we're starting to think about it a lot and right now, those two schools definitely stand out for us."
