Oakland standout stays in-state

The rich are getting richer out West. UCLA has landed another commitment, this time it’s from Oakland Tech Strongside defensive end Thomas Patton.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Patton said he picked UCLA Colorado (offer), Cal, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington and Oregon mainly because he grew up a major Bruin fan.

“Yeah, it’s been a dream,” Patton said. “I’ve always wanted to go there because it’s close to home an it’s a great school. Now I will be. I still can’t believe it.”Patton said he had around 75 tackles last season and seven quarterback sacks. However, most of the damage came at defensive tackle, but he’s moving back to his natural end spot this upcoming season.
