NY wideout has Syracuse ties

One of New York's top receivers isn't making location a top priority in his decision. That said, the Orangemen are still in the hunt.
"My favorite schools are Ole Miss, Tennessee, Penn State, UCLA, Boise State and Syracuse," said Greg Betterson. "I'm hearing from all those schools plus places like LSU, West Virginia, Buffalo and others. I don't have any offers yet."

Betterson is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound wide receiver from Niagara Falls (N.Y.) Niagara Catholic. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. As a junior he rushed 20 times for 209 yards. However, Betterson did most of his damage as a wide receiver, catching 39 passes for 650 yards and eight touchdowns.
As a defensive back he recorded 40 tackles, two sacks, five tackles for loss and three interceptions. He earned first team all-Catholic school honors. He has his camp schedule all set.
"I plan on camping at Syracuse and maybe Penn State," said Betterson. "They're so close to home and would be the easiest to get to."
Betterson combines speed and grit on the field.
"I'm a finesse player but I'm also aggressive. I'm fast learning and I work all the time. I'll do whatever it takes to win even if I don't have the ball. I want to do anything that will help my team improve and win."
The speed wideout knows what he's looking for in a school.
"I want to find a program that's good year in and year out, because I care so much about winning. I also want to play a role in that program. I would like to see the field a good amount."
Right now there is no leader, but Ole Miss has told him he could step in and play quickly and he has ties to Syracuse.
"The Ole Miss coaches seem to like me quite a bit," he said. "And my cousin, Al Wooten, is a former fullback at Syracuse."
