NY lineman leaning to the northeast

Massena (N.Y.) Central offensive tackle / defensive tackle Thomas Whitcomb has begun to receive interest from college recruiters and has just started analyzing his college selection criteria. He is considering one major factor, and two schools relatively close to home appear to have the edge in meeting his standards.
A three-year starter, Whitcomb was named to the academic all-northern team as as junior, as Massena won their section. He also plays basketball and lacrosse, showing his overall athletic ability.

Athleticism and enthusiasm are the two traits Thomas considers to be his strongest assets. These two things could factor into his position at the next level, as he is also receiving interest at the noseguard slot.
At 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, Whitcomb runs the 40-yard dash in 5.0 seconds. He bench presses 275 pounds and squats 350 pounds.
An excellent student, Whitcomb maintains a 3.7 GPA and has already scored a 1,020 on the SAT. He is on the high honor roll, and is considering careers in either the physical therapy or law enforcement fields.
“I really want to go to a school in an urban area, and I have always liked Syracuse a little bit, but right now I like BC a lot,” he explained. “There is still a long way to go, though.” These two schools along with Penn State and Drexel are recruiting him the hardest right now.
He camped at Penn State last year and plans to either return to State College this summer, or to go to nearby Syracuse. Other camps are also an option, but he has yet to make any plans.
