NY back focused on five

Brooklyn (N.Y.) Xaverian running back Laray Smith is primarily focused on five schools. On top of that, the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder has his first official visit set for later this month.
"I'm getting ready to go to Tennessee on November 30th," he said. "I'm still talking to West Virginia and we'll see how that goes. Most likely I'll be visiting Syracuse as well. I might save my other two trips for track."

Smith has big interest coming in for track.
"I only have two offers, but they are from Ole Miss and Illinois," he said. "It's for the 400 meter. I would consider walking on for football with them if I went into track. I feel like they are both big schools."
Meanwhile, the focus largely for football appears to be on the likes of Tennessee, West Virginia and Syracuse.
"I like those schools a lot," he said. "The coaches have shown me a lot of respect and I feel I can help their schools out. It's a good opportunity to have."
With his first official coming soon, what is he hoping to see at Tennessee?
"I just want to feel comfortable," he stated. "I want to fit with that kind of school, feel what the vibe is on campus and meet the coaches more."
In other news, Smith recently received an invite to the Semper Fidelis Bowl on December 31st.
"I got it in the past month or two," he said. "I'm pretty excited. I just want to go out there and show my talent and show that even though I'm from New York, we still play better than anyone else."
On the field, Smith and Xavierian are in the playoffs.
"I've been playing well this season," he said. "I'd say I'm more aggressive and I'm attacking the holes harder."
