Numbers Crunch: WVUs Florida focus

Currently, the Mountaineers rank 19th and seem to be on pace to land the program's most touted recruiting haul come National Signing Day. West Virginia's current class is highlighted by five four-star prospects, including wide receiver Jovon Durante, the No. 145 prospect in the class. The Mountaineers' 2013 class included a pair of four-star prospects led by Shelton Gibson, the No. 15 receiver in the class. Funny what a little success in a power conference can do.

Consecutive years in Which Oklahoma has signed at least one of the top 25 players in Texas.
In 20014, the Sooners signed the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the state, when they grabbed running back Adrian Peterson (1) and QB Rhett Bomar (2).
If nothing changes before signing day, the Sooners will push the streak to 13 years when Katy, Texas, running back and OU commit Rodney Anderson (No. 11 in the state) signs his letter of internet. In all likelihood, it will take a disastrous coaching transition or something of the sort to grind OU's run in Texas to halt.
16
Number of Texas' top 25 2015 prospects that are currently committed.
Four-star QB Kyler Murray of Allen, Texas, is headed to Texas A&M.
Six of the 16 have made the call for Texas A&M, which shows where the recruiting momentum lies in the state. A&M isn't exactly having a landmark season, so things may level out a bit in the coming years. But, at least for now, the shine from the program's recent success has not worn off on the recruiting trail. Eight of the 16 are committed to SEC schools, while the other eight are headed to Big 12 programs Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

Players left on Florida's 2015 commitment list following the dismissal of coach Will Muschamp.
Muschamp's fate has been sealed for a while, so it's not as though there was a shock and a mass exodus after the news broke this week. The in-season coaching change could actually be good for recruiting, though, as at least the promise of a new regime lends some form of stability to a situation that was scaring prospects with options.
Florida's recruiting class ranks 72nd nationally at the moment, one slot below 3-7 Kansas, which also is without a head coach for 2015. The swiftness with which the Gators make a hire and just who that hire is will means everything when it comes to salvaging a decent haul on Signing Day.

Top 10 players in the state of New Jersey committed to Rutgers.
Minkah Fitzpatrick, the top player in New Jersey, is committed to Alabama.
Every last one of the state's top 10 players has made a verbal commitment. Penn State has three of them. Top prospect Minkah Fitzpatrick is headed to Alabama. Hapless Michigan has one on the way and even Temple has cracked the list. Rutgers, though? Not so much.
Having the sixth-ranked class in the 14-team Big Ten isn't a total disaster. The bowl eligible Scarlet Knights and their No. 42 overcall class aren't some sort of recruiting punch line. The struggles they are having in their own state are real, however, and beating Penn state a few times might go a long way tward changing the image of the brand regionally. After all, it seems like the program's local momentum has died since Rutgers landed five-star Darius Hamilton, New Jersey's top player, in 2012.
51
Touchdowns for Clemson quarterback commit Tucker Israel on the season, a new Florida state record.
Israel used a five-touchdown performance over the weekend to break the previous record set by Tim Tebow. Israel had previously set Florida career records in completions, passing yards and touchdowns. He also holds the state record for touchdowns in a game with 10. Israel chose Clemson last February over offers from LSU, Florida, UCLA and others.
18
Number of five-star prospects in the 2015 class (out of 31) who have committed.
Alabama, Georgia and Florida State lead the way with three each. Clemson and LSU both have a pair of five-stars in the fold. Of the 18 five-stars off the board, 11 are committed to SEC schools, five are headed to the ACC and two are Pac-12-bound.
