NPA Open Workout: Five underclassmen to know

NASHVILLE -- Yesterday we highlighted 10 performers who stood out at the National Playmakers Academy open workout in Nashville over the weekend and today we take a look to the future. Here's a look at five players, who despite being very early in their high school careers, could be the recruiting stars of tomorrow in the Volunteer state.

Recruiting wrap: Anderson is waiting for his first offer.

Performance: Anderson has yet to play a down of high school football but that didn't stop him from impressing at Sunday's event. Already 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Anderson has the size and frame to develop into an elite offensive lineman. Obviously he has a lot of work to do in order to reach that point, but he's light on his feet and agile as well. As he continues to refine his technique and add strength he will quickly get on the radar of schools around the country.

Recruiting wrap: Sutton has an early offer from Memphis.

Performance: Sutton made a name for himself on the offseason camp circuit before he ever played a game of high school football and he's only gotten better with a season now under his belt. A legit 6-foot-6, Sutton is exactly the type of tall, athletic offensive lineman that college coaches covet and he continues to show improved technique. If he continues on his current trajectory, Sutton will be collecting Power Five offers soon.

Recruiting wrap: Griffin is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: Affectionately referred to by his coaches and teammates as "Big Will" the rising sophomore certainly lives up to his nickname. One of the largest prospects in attendance, Griffin impressed with his ability to move at his size and also held his own against older, more experienced defensive linemen during one-on-ones. He plays both ways in high school and looks like he could translate to either side of the ball at the next level, but at his height he is likely to end up at offensive tackle.

Recruiting wrap: Merrill is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: A rising sophomore, Merrill has terrific speed and seemed to catch several of his opponents off guard during one-on-ones. With consistent hands and an ability to get open, along with good size, Merrill is already on the radar of several FBS programs and should start adding offers to his list soon.

Recruiting wrap: Jean is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: Jean is an intriguing prospect at the quarterback position, mainly because of his size. He has a thick build and on tape has the ability to scramble as well as make throws from the pocket. On Sunday he showed off his arm and he throws a very catchable ball. It will be interesting to watch how he develops over the next few years.
