Notre Dame offers UCLA pledge

Bolu Olorunfunmi landed a major offer Thursday from Notre Dame but the three-star running back said his commitment to UCLA still stands.
The Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North standout who shined at the RCS California camps in recent weeks and looked good again at the Pylon Sports 7on7 in Las Vegas was taken by complete surprise by the Irish offer especially since he's had limited communication with the coaching staff.

The next step for Olorunfunmi is to talk with his parents - and to the UCLA coaches - to see if a trip to South Bend could be worked out this off-season or for an official visit in the fall.
"It came as a surprise," Olorunfunmi said. "I did not expect it. I'm going to talk with my parents and see and talk to UCLA if I can go down for a visit or maybe take an official. That's something I might think about but otherwise I still have my commitment to UCLA. I just want to take a visit.
"That just shows me my talents are being looked at across the nation. It's a really big offer, a big school, a really good school. I'm happy I have the offer."
The 5-foot-10, 216-pound standout who rushed for about 2,400 yards and 26 touchdowns in his junior season said he will talk with the UCLA staff before considering a visit to Notre Dame. That has to be a good sign for the Bruins as Olorunfunmi said his commitment is still firm. He picked UCLA earlier this month.
"I'm still committed to UCLA but it is a big offer for me," Olorunfunmi said.
"I have not been talking to (Notre Dame) at all. I just got a follow from one of the coaches and I followed them back. I called him at my lunchtime here at school and they offered."
Recruiting has gotten much busier for the Fresno Clovis North standout. Stanford recently offered and he also has Cal, Fresno State, Nevada, Northwestern, Oregon State and others on his list.
