SAN ANTONIO - Chicago Simeon Career Academy four-star defensive end Christopher Burgess Jr has made his college choice. It was a tough one to handicap as he had a final four of Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama. In the end, the Irish were the pick for one of the Midwest's best 2025 prospects.

When Burgess named his top four a week ago he spoke with Rivals about what made Notre Dame stand out to him.
“Notre Dame that’s close to home,” Burgess said. “It’s like an hour away and they’re promising to develop me the most as a player and person. And they talk about life after football. My parents love that school. They love it there. Coach Al Washington and coach (Marcus) Freeman said I’m their top priority.”
Being close to home helped Notre Dame quite a bit during the recruiting process. Burgess visited South Bend six times during his recruitment which helped build that close relationship with the staff.
Burgess is now part of Notre Dame’s outstanding 2025 recruiting class that currently ranks No. 1 in the nation. It was already a very good defensive line group with four-star Joseph Reiff, four-star Davion Dixon and three-star CJ May, and it's even better following Burgess' addition.
