WHITTIER, Calif. – Sound Mind, Sound Body partnered with the Kings of Cali College Showcase for an event on Friday that featured some of the top prospects in the state of California. Here are some of the latest recruiting notes:

Holmes lining up several visits

Five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes has three official visits planned so far and he’s still figuring out the two others.

The Calabasas, Calif., standout will be visiting Nebraska for the Huskers' season-opener against Fresno State, Ohio State for the Michigan showdown and he’s still trying to finalize a date to see the Wolverines in Ann Arbor as well.

Later this summer, Holmes said there’s a good possibility he could head to the state of Florida to visit the three major programs there: Miami, Florida and Florida State. If he does take that trip, it’s improbable he would take an official visit to any of those schools.

Holmes keeps trying to pin down his recruitment but offers keep coming. On Friday, the five-star landed one from Michigan State and he said a trip sometime to East Lansing is going to happen.

“That’s pretty exciting so I’m going to try to visit Michigan State,” Holmes said. “I’m definitely a big fan of Trae Waynes and Darqueze Dennard.”

As for which programs are recruiting him the hardest, Holmes said UCLA, Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska are up there.

Woodbey stunned by Ohio State

Jaiden Woodbey has been landing major offers this offseason but arguably the biggest came this week when Ohio State came through for the 2018 four-star athlete from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco.

Woodbey said the Ohio State offer caught him completely off-guard but he knows for sure he wants to visit Columbus and that the Buckeyes shoot right to the top of his early list.

“They instantly jump to my top,” Woodbey said.

Ohio State joins Alabama, USC and Florida State up there even though the Seminoles haven’t offered yet. The 2018 prospect is considering other programs but those four certainly have his attention.

Graham to visit Alabama

Thomas Graham, a one-time USC commitment, expects to visit Alabama in mid-July. The Crimson Tide could definitely join Graham’s top list if the visit goes well, so that’s something to watch.

As it stands now, the four-star cornerback from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., has Arizona, UCLA, Notre Dame and Oregon as the four schools to beat. The Trojans might not be completely out of it, though, and Graham could take a quick trip around this weekend since he’s planning to visit his sister on campus.

Visits coming for Hawkins' stars

Five-star receiver Joseph Lewis postponed a trip to Nebraska from this weekend to next but he’s still planning to see the Huskers soon. Don’t expect too much in his recruitment, though, until he can start getting on the phone more regularly with coaches and position coaches to get a much better understanding of everyone involved.

Tennessee is expected to host 2018 five-star receiver Jalen Hall, 2019 athlete De'Gabriel Floyd and possibly 2018 four-star defensive back Aashari Crosswell in mid-July.

Four-star Greg Johnson is committed to Arizona and Hawkins coach Malik James said there’s a strong possibility Johnson and many other teammates could be heading back to Tucson sometime this summer.

Everyone is also trying to figure out when they could visit Oregon and Washington in July as that has been a priority for some top Hawkins players.

Tuliaupupu landing offers

Solomon Tuliaupupu did not work out Friday but that did not stop him from having recruiting news since Notre Dame offered him.

That is another major offer for the 2018 linebacker from Claremont, Calif., who said a recent offer from USC is definitely big but it’s premature to call any program his favorite.

“My whole family was excited, my friends were, and I was just thankful for it,” Tuliaupupu said. “I just have to keep working hard.”

LSU and Florida State have been showing the most interest out of the schools that haven’t offered yet and the 2018 standout said he wants to visit Washington, Oregon, USC and hopefully Michigan and Oklahoma this summer.

Two early standouts for Ware-Hudson

Arizona and USC are the two early frontrunners for 2019 prospect Keyon Ware-Hudson and Michigan has also offered early on.

The Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta recruit said a middle school trip to Tucson was definitely memorable and that’s one reason why the Wildcats stand out. He grew up around USC football so the Trojans will play a role moving forward.

Miami and Kentucky are showing the most new interest.
