LOS ANGELES – The Dorsey Under The Lights 7-on-7 was held Friday night and some of the top prospects in the area worked out. Here is the latest recruiting news from the event:

Lenoir narrows to 10

Deommodore Lenoir had not planned to release a top 10 until next week but after looking over his extensive offer list with his coaches they decided to get it done sooner.

Oregon, Alabama, Nebraska, Florida, USC, UCLA, LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan and San Diego State made the cut for Lenoir, one of the top defensive backs in the West.

The next step is figuring out visits and the Salesian prospect said he’s definitely taking official trips to Oregon and Nebraska. The Ducks offer is one he wanted for years because he always followed former Los Angeles Crenshaw star De'Anthony Thomas, who played in Eugene and now with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lenoir said the Florida offer was also big and that he’s intrigued by Alabama because of its prestige and success under Nick Saban.

As for a decision, Lenoir said one of the most important factors will be numbers at defensive back. He’s looking to play early and will take into serious consideration how many DBs are on the roster at each of his 10 favorites.

Lewis still looking

Maybe the most important factor in five-star receiver Joseph Lewis' recruitment is his relationship with his future position coach.

The Los Angeles Augustus Hawkins star has not officially narrowed down his list but Lewis has a lot of respect for Nebraska receivers coach Keith Williams and an official visit to Lincoln could definitely happen.

There is also talk of a trip to Arizona (whether official or unofficial) and that’s important because Hawkins teammate Greg Johnson, a four-star athlete, is committed there.

Many others are heavily involved. Oklahoma assistant Dennis Simmons has not stopped recruiting Lewis, USC position coach Tee Martin recently spent a significant chunk of time at Hawkins and Oregon could also be receiving a visit in the fall.

Baylor keeps reaching out and, according to a source, Lewis wants to keep hearing more from the Georgia coaching staff because he’s open to the Bulldogs.

According to his coaches, location will hardly play a factor in his final decision. The two most important things to Lewis are his relationship with his position coach at each school and the ability to earn early playing time.

The five-star receiver is rated fourth at his position nationally. At this point, there is no counting out any school in his recruitment and no official visits have been finalized.

Johnson talks future

Three-star linebacker Rahyme Johnson decommitted from UCLA on Friday but he said the Bruins remain a serious contender in his recruitment.

The Los Angeles Salesian standout wanted to reopen his recruitment in part to see which other programs would get involved as he’s noticed some coaches were hesitant to come after him because he was committed.

As for what’s next, Johnson said he wants to take an official visit to Nebraska after being in Lincoln recently. He said he loves the atmosphere there and that everyone knew who he was on and off campus. If Johnson could make it work, a Nebraska trip would happen for the Oregon game.

A wide range of schools could also land official visits depending on which offers come in through the offseason. Johnson said Notre Dame will definitely get one after the Irish offered and he also wants to visit Oregon, Michigan, Michigan State and Oklahoma.

The Salesian recruit knows he cannot take officials to all those schools but those are some he’s eyeing at this point.

More news and notes

Four-star Greg Johnson remains happily committed to Arizona although he is expected to take all his official visits.

The Los Angeles Hawkins prospect has developed a great bond with first-year cornerbacks coach Donte Williams in Tucson and like Lewis, relationships will play a huge key in final decisions.

No schools have been determined for official trips as the Wildcats still are in a great position with the four-star recruit.

Three-star Nick Pickett said Utah is his leader although official visits are being planned for the fall. The Los Angeles Salesian prospect could visit Nebraska for the Oregon game (with a bunch of other California recruits) and he said Oregon, Oregon State, Miami and Nevada are all showing interest.

A player to watch at Los Angeles Dorsey is 2019 DE/OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect only has film from six games in his freshman season because of a transfer but he has excellent size and looked great at tight end Friday night. He can easily be a Pac-12 level player in the coming years.
