Norviews Fields has a big heart

According to Norfolk (Va.) Norview head coach Robert Toran, defensive tackle Klinton Ruff isn't the only prospect to watch out of the Hampton Roads school in 2008. Ruff leads the way for 5-foot-6, 165-pound running back Marquez Fields who led the district in rushing yards last season with 1,244 along with 13 touchdowns.
"He was the leading rusher in the district and earned all-district honors," Toran said. "He actually had seven consecutive weeks of 100 yards or more, the most of any back in the area. He also earned second team all-tidewater honors."

Obviously Fields has impressed on the field, but what stands out about his play?
"He stepped up big-time for us last season and it seemed he was always getting positive yards," he said. "I call him a throwback kind of guy. He's a tough player for his size and you can't teach that. In big games, he does his job very well and not only excels at running the ball, but also finding holes and being an excellent blocker. He'll take on the ends regardless of how big they are. It's also a real compliment to his durability.
"Off the field, he's introverted and pretty quiet. He doesn't want to be seen instead just lets his actions speak louder than his words. He's a very accountable person that knows when to be in practice and work out and is coachable. You can tell him once and he'll get it."
Obviously Fields size is keeping interest low at this time.
"I don't see him growing too much more, but his heart out measures any height he could have," he said. "I'm confident he'll excel wherever he goes. He could play Division I or maybe Division II if that doesn't pan out."
