Northwestern offer intrigues 3-star DB

Class of 2016 Smyrna, Tenn. defensive back Ikenna Okeke is taking a very measured approach to his recruitment, insisting on keeping a level head while evalutating all his options.
"I'm excited about every offer I get," Okeke said. "Any school that is excited about me I'm excited about them."

While he already has recruit-speak down, Okeke admitted there are a few schools that are standing out as he heads into a busy period of visits from college coaches and visits to campuses himself.
"I know Northwestern is a great school for academics and that's something that appeals to me," Okeke said. "I have to keep my grades up in general but I know that in order to keep getting all these great academic schools I have to keep working hard in the classroom, too."
The Wildcats offered Okeke earlier this year and according to him, the coaches think he could be a potential star with the school.
"They told me that I can come in there and make an early impact," he said. "That's always a good thing to hear because I like to compete regardless."
A trio of other programs also remain high on Okeke's list.
"Tennessee was my first offer so that's one that sticks out to me," he said. "I like Vanderbilt because that was my hometown school. I like Louisville, too. They're all great schools."
One school that hasn't offered yet but could play a major role down the line is Alabama.
"Their new defensive backs coach Mel Tucker talks to me a good bit," Okeke said. "He said they really like me. They like my size and they've seen my film and like what I've done in games, too."
