Northwestern likes Florida DT

When he moved from Colorado to Bradenton (Fla.) at the start of this year, 2015 Manatee High defensive tackle Ryan Fines wasn't sure what to expect. While he's still adjusting to the speed of play, plenty of schools are taking notice of the 6-foot-3, 290-pounder.
"It's been a really good last two weeks," Fines said. "I'm hearing from Northwestern, Iowa State, Duke, Rutgers and Cincinnati."

Fines said the Wildcats continue to show the most interest and he's hoping that they might be the first to offer.
"I want to get up there for a visit," he said. "Once I can work it out with the coaches it's something I want to do."
In addition to the football aspect, Fines said the chance to earn a degree from Northwestern is also something he finds pretty appealing.
"Academically it's a huge deal," he said. "I want to major in business and they have one of the best programs in the country. I like the Chicago area, too."
Because he tore his MCL during the spring, Fines missed most of the camp circuit during the summer. He said he's hoping that once his early season film gets out even more interest will come.
