Northwestern hosting local quarterback

Algonquin (Ill.) Jacobs three-star class of 2017 quarterback Chris Katrenick will make his fourth college visit of the season this weekend when he makes the short trip to Evanston to see Northwestern host Penn State.

"I am just excited to hang out and go see game day," Katrenick said. "I think this year is a lot different than last year just with how they are doing and the atmosphere there."
Katrenick camped with Northwestern over the summer, where he developed a relationship with offensive coordinator Mick McCall.
"They told me then they're going to be watching the season," Katrenick said. "They are a close school for me and I think they are showing a good amount of interest in me. I know they have offered a lot of 2017 quarterbacks, but they don't have any committed yet. My head coach and Coach (Pat) Fitzgerald, they go way back together."
Visits this season have already been taken to Notre Dame, Indiana and Wisconsin and a trip is planned to Michigan State for Nov. 28.
Virginia was the first school to extend an offer to Katrenick. He has been in off-and-on contact with their offensive coordinator, Steve Fairchild, this fall, but talks more with a pair of Big Ten programs.
"I don't talk as often with Virginia as I do with Indiana or Wisconsin," Katrenick said. "I would say Indiana, right now, I talk to the most with Coach (Kevin) Johns, and that's going well. I think we've developed a good relationship and I hope things keep rolling.
"We talk probably once every other week and he tells me he loves my film, compares all the other quarterbacks to me. He said he is going to be up in December to watch me throw, and once that happens we'll start moving forward with things."
Katrenick attended Indiana's Sept. 12 game in Bloomington. He may return for another game visit before the season is over, but more likely will make his way to the school for a basketball game this winter.
Jacobs High finished their 2015 season last weekend with a 7-2 record. Katrenick estimated his season stats at 1,900 passing yards with 17 passing touchdowns and eight rushing touchdowns.
