Northern Illinois cancels Thomass visit

Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside safety Marquel Thomas had planned to take an official to his leader, Northern Illinois this weekend. Due to the recent retirement of Joe Novak, Thomas's visit was cancelled.
"I didn't go this weekend since their coach retired," he said. "I'm not sure if I'll even take a visit there. I should find out more once things settle down and they announce a new coach.

"Coach Beatty came to my school earlier this week to talk about what is going on. He's not sure if he'll still be there. He told me if he ends up somewhere else, he'd still recruit me for there."
Do the questions at Northern Illinois make the 6-foot-2, 165-pounder look at his other offers, Marshall and Eastern Michigan?
"I haven't really been talking to them in awhile. I have kept in touch with their coaches here and there," he said. "I'm also in touch with Connecticut, ODU and Hampton. None of those have offered, but I think they could possibly soon."
With the shakeup, Thomas's decision is assured to move back.
"I'm going to take visits in January and probably wait until around Signing Day in February to announce."
Thomas hauled in 47 receptions for 929-yards and 12 touchdowns. He added five interceptions on defense.
