North Texas picks up DE commit

The 2009 recruiting class is gaining momentum for North Texas. Commitment number four is in the books for the Mean Green in the form of China Spring, Texas defensive end Ryan Boutwell. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder made his decision known on Sunday night.
"I committed to North Texas," Boutwell said on Monday morning. "I did it last night."

Among the factors that led Boutwell to his decision were the new facilities that are being put in place on the Denton, Texas campus.
"I like the facilities that they have there and the new stadium they're going to get in a couple years," he said. "I like their coaching staff a lot and it seemed like a good fit."
The timing of the decision came intentionally just prior to the start of practice on Aug. 4. Boutwell hoped to have his college decision behind him by his senior year. Also Boutwell wanted to reward the program that put its faith in him early.
"It was my only offer," he said. "The other schools that I thought were going to offer me, I got the inclination that they weren't going to."
Boutwell had 130 tackles from his defensive end position as a junior.
